Privacy Policy
A. Albert Memories & Media LLC ("we," "us," "our") operates Shelf Talk AI Reads (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: email, hashed password, display name, username, avatar.
- Authentication providers: if you sign in with Google or another provider, we receive your email, name, and provider user id — never your password.
- Profile & preferences: bio, reading preferences, favorite genres, moods, taste-quiz answers.
- User-generated content: posts, comments, reviews, quotes, shelves, stories, journal entries, uploaded covers, and files you upload to your personal library.
- Prompts to our AI assistant ("Litty"): the messages you send, and the responses generated, so we can maintain conversation context and improve safety.
- Usage & device data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and crash / error diagnostics.
- Cookies & local storage: essential session tokens, theme and language preferences, and limited analytics data (see our Cookie Policy).
2. How We Use Your Information
- Operate, secure, and personalize the App (recommendations, feeds, AI features).
- Authenticate you, protect your account, and prevent fraud and abuse.
- Moderate content — including AI-assisted flagging and human review of reports.
- Communicate with you about your account, safety issues, and material changes to our policies.
- Improve product quality through aggregated analytics and error monitoring.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. AI Providers & Third-Party Services
Some features send your inputs to third-party AI models (via the Lovable AI Gateway and equivalent providers such as OpenAI-compatible endpoints) so we can generate recommendations, chat responses, and moderation signals. These providers process your data as sub-processors under contractual data protection terms and do not use your inputs to train public models on your behalf.
We also use infrastructure providers (Cloudflare, Supabase), analytics tools, and optional integrations you connect (for example, Spotify, Kindle, Audible, Libby, Google Books). Each integration you connect governs the data it receives under its own privacy policy.
4. Legal Bases (EEA/UK Users)
- Contract: to provide the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, product improvement.
- Consent: optional analytics, marketing communications, or integrations you connect.
- Legal obligation: tax, accounting, and safety reporting.
5. Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only:
- with sub-processors listed above, under written contracts;
- with law enforcement when compelled by valid legal process;
- to protect the rights, safety, or property of A. Albert Memories & Media LLC, our users, or the public;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this Policy.
6. Public vs. Private Content
Your profile, reviews, ratings, shelf entries, published stories, community posts, and comments are visible to other users by default. Direct messages, taste-quiz answers, connected accounts, and support tickets are private to you and our staff.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active, plus a limited period thereafter for legal, safety, tax, and audit purposes. See our Data Retention Policy and Data Deletion Policy for full details.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards: encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted passwords, role-based access, row-level security in our database, and least-privilege service credentials. No system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password and enable multi-factor authentication where offered.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access, correct, or export your personal data;
- request deletion of your account and associated data (see Account Deletion Policy);
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent;
- lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email info@aalbertmemories.com or use the in-app support form.
10. Children
Shelf Talk AI Reads is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn a user is under the applicable minimum age, we delete the account.
11. International Transfers
We are based in the United States. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.
12. Changes to this Policy
We will post material changes here and update the "Last updated" date below. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
